Beta update 0.3 now LIVE!


Wow this game has progressed quickly... A little while ago it was a buggy mess, now it's a pretty buggy mess (jk).

A lot of the bugs have been creased out, particularly the two known bugs mentioned in the last post:

  1. Arrows don't always appear to be shot by the player - this was an issue with network synchronization times, I've increased the number of times the server asks where the arrow is.
  2. Player Names sometimes appear as "Player" - this is 90% fixed, occasionally the server machine will still see this bug, but only on slower networks.

A few more things have happened:

  • I've dropped the max number of players to 6 per map - this is due to testing on Apple Mac Mini's and finding that any more than 6 and the server's game crashes. I'd rather have a stable release to all, rather than a buggy release for some.
  • Added some details to the map to make it more interesting/difficult
  • I'll be on holidays next week so I may actually be able to get more done

In all seriousness though, this update should be much more stable. There are still some buggy issues, but they should mostly be surrounding menus, not gameplay.

Speaking of which! In the next few updates I'm hoping to:

  • Do a complete menu overhaul including the main menu and the pause menu
  • Add some decent sound!! Sound would be awesome because the same two footsteps playing is driving me nuts
  • Add some decent options for sound into the menus! Because if you don't want to hear the awesome work I'm putting into footsteps/arrow noises/goblin shouts, then you shouldn't have to
