Alpha 0.02 Patches

Updates:

  • Beautified main menu (still a work in progress)
  • Fixed issue where if you alt+tab out of the game during the sleeping phase it doesn't let you continue easily
  • Squished bug where if you forced the chopsticks to one side and then held the opposite direction they would be kept off screen
  • Added day counter to sleep scene (yet to be implemented properly, I know it's broken)

Overall this is really a minor update, I mostly just wanted to fix a couple of bugs that have been found in playtesting.

The game has really gotten a rhythm to it now though I think, it starts off pretty quick, but after the first level if you play through it really calms down (if you do it properly). Then again, if you do it poorly, it really ramps up the difficulty. This game rewards diligence and patience, I think it's doing well in that.

Roadmap and future updates:

The roadmap for this project is (roughly) as follows:

  • Fix core loop to include more player feedback
  • Make scene for reaching enlightenment
  • Make scene for getting kicked out of the monastery (failure state, yes, you can lose this game)
  • Beautifying main menu
  • Add some delay/screen/something in between levels to delineate them
  • Beautifying eating scene
  • Music composing
  • Sound Effects
  • Sound implementation
  • Beautify sleeping scene
  • Options implementation (at the moment the options menu just displays a static image)
  • Beautifying more in general
  • Localisation and translation to different languages
  • Implementation of localisation
  • Look at distribution options

I think that's about all I need to do at this stage, roughly in order. I'm not terribly worried about what else might pop up, I know there's probably a LOT more I'm missing...

Making this game really has been a meditative process, it's helped me work through some bad emotions, and I hope it does that for you too.
